HEROES

"An electrifying evening with the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet", this was the first LP, I bought when I was 14 years old. Ever since, I was addicted to JAZZ and listened to Coltrane, Parker, Mingus, Miles and Blakey and nothing else!.
At that time I didn’t believe there were West-Coast musicians that could reach this kind of level.
Emelio told me to visit Getz, since Stan really liked our LCM85 mike that Emilio gave to him and he should be visiting the North Sea Jazz festival in 1987! I didn’t know how he played but since I heard him live, he became my hero too!
The concerts I heard in Holland and Germany convinced me, he is making music that seems to take you up to heaven!
I'd never dreamed of ever meeting my heroes 25 years later personally back stage, in person! We met in ’88 with his kind son, his beautiful wife and Kenny Barron....Getz asked me to come to his dressing room to attach the new LCM89 on his horn. My hands were shaking... He was a very kind, relaxed and charming man .....
